After Brett ended his life last year I knew I needed help. Three weeks later I joined a support group, SASS (Suicide Awareness Survivor Support) and I haven’t stopped attending group since. They give me hope and they share my pain. On September 11th (a Sunday) they will be holding their annual Remembrance Walk at Loose Park at 9am. People can walk for free or register online for $25 which will get you a t-shirt that day. SASS is a non-profit organization. All proceeds will go towards our group’s little library, tissues, and the next walk. This is a great way to support someone you are not sure how to talk to since their loved one has died from suicide or if you had someone who died in this manner, you can bring a picture and hang it on their board that day. They also have a lovely dove ceremony where a speaker will read off our loved ones names to the hundreds who will be there.
